ASEZA Commissioner inspects $2.3 billion 'Aqaba Eye' project ahead of 2026 opening

Aqaba, May 5 (Petra) -- Mohammad Abu Omar, Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Investment at the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), conducted a field inspection of the "Aqaba Eye" tourism project on the city's southern coast on Tuesday to review construction progress.

The entertainment and tourism landmark is designed to bolster Aqaba’s standing on the regional and international tourism maps. During the tour, Project Manager Mohammad Marar provided a detailed briefing on achievement rates and the operational roadmap for the upcoming phase of development.

Marar stated that the project spans more than 14,000 square meters and features integrated service facilities and parking infrastructure. He noted that its strategic location near premier diving sites provides significant added value to Aqaba's tourism landscape.

Construction is proceeding according to the established timeline, with the project slated for inauguration during 2026. The development is expected to generate between 70 and 90 direct jobs for residents, contributing to the provincial economy and supporting employment opportunities.

Abu Omar said the project represents a qualitative addition to the region's tourism and entertainment sector. He emphasized that ASEZA is committed to developing modern projects that meet visitor needs and keep pace with global tourism trends, ensuring the city remains an attractive destination year-round.

The "Aqaba Eye" is envisioned as an integrated entertainment hub that blends indoor and outdoor spaces. It will offer a diverse range of activities, dining experiences, and retail outlets tailored to various age groups within a secure and organized environment, the Commissioner added.
